Google acquires Sigmoid labs for an undisclosed amount

Finance , December 11, 2018

Google has acquired Sigmoid Labs, a Bengaluru-based start-up and the parent company of ‘Where Is My Train’, a train tracking app for an undisclosed amount. This deal would help Sigmoid to bring technology and information to mass usage.

Sigmoid Labs was founded by five former executives of a US-based tech company, TiVo Corporation. The company had developed the Where Is My Train app in 2016, which allows the users to check the live train status without the need for internet connectivity and is available in several languages including Hindi. According to some reports, the app has seen around 10 million downloads.

Meanwhile, this is the second acquisition by Google in India. Earlier, the company had acquired Halli Labs, a Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence (AI) start-up.
