Bharti Infratel bags the Green Mobile Award at the 2011 GSMA Annual Global Mobile Awards
Bharti Infratel Limited, India's leading telecom passive infrastructure service provider has been awarded the Green Mobile Award for Best Green Product / Service or Performance category for its pioneering P7 GreenTowers project initiative. Infratel's GreenTowers P7 initiative is a comprehensive energy management programme and is a combination of 7 energy efficiency sub-projects. This path-breaking initiative aims to reduce dependence on conventional sources of energy by adopting cleaner technologies for power generation and energy efficiency to mitigate green house gas emissions, while providing connectivity uptime service to telecom operators' tower sites.
On receiving the award, Devender Singh Rawat, Chief Executive Officer, Bharti Infratel Limited, said, "It is a matter of great pride for us to be recognized for our efforts in adopting cleaner technologies and increasing efficiency for our tower operations. The GSMA Annual Global Mobile Awards now in its sixteenth year recognises the innovation, ingenuity and important contributions to the success of the mobile industry across various categories. This year's awards attracted more than 600 entrants, with many high calibre entries across the nine categories. The Green Mobile Award was adjudged on the parameters of pro-activity and tangible progress in terms of eco-friendly networks, policies, environment constructive programmes and initiatives.
